What amazing fun we had last night as we played together as Girl Scout Sisters! We started the night off at Fat Cats and enjoyed a fun game of bowling while we munched on pizza and soda. Then we took to the golf course, miniature golf course that is, to try our hand at golfing... in the dark... with a black light. Let's just say, I stopped counting my shots. I don't like counting that high! Following miniature golf, the girls headed off for a round, and another round, and another round, and another round (you get the picture) of bumper cars. We zoomed, bumped and spun all over that bumper car arena. A couple of our cuties ganged up on me and squished me against the wall! Little sillies! After we had all had enough bumping and spinning, everyone got 20 tokens and were sent off to see how many tickets they could win. Picking out their prizes was a highlight of the evening. We brought back some pretty awesome stuff from a real metal Slinkie and a UFO light to an inflatable monkey! everyone found a prize just for them.
Having sufficiently played our hearts out at Fat Cats, we thanked them, gathered our stuff and bid them farewell before embarking on the walk to The Hampton Inn across the street. Everyone pitched in to make sure that all the stuff got carried and every one's load was just a little lighter. We have a great group of Girl Scout Friends! When we arrived at the hotel, we dropped our stuff, put on our swimming suits and found our way to the over sized hot tub. We splashed and played before heading back to the room to get some work done! We gathered in the sitting room of our Executive suite and got down to the business of creating our S.W.A.P.'S (something withe a pin). We are going to need alot of them for camp! Each and every girl pitched in to make autograph books, flowers and silly creatures and us grown-ups glued pins on each and every one. As the night wore on and the gluing got more demanding, Mrs. K. and Mrs. S. both burnt themselves (although Mrs. K's was due to her arm being closed in a drawer!). I thought I had gotten away without injury... how wrong I was. This afternoon, I noticed a blister on my finger! I guess I was too tired to notice that I had been burned! Good grief!
Well, after filling a pretty large tub with S.W.A.P.'s, the girls all grabbed a snack and snuggled down in their blankets to watch every one's favorite little blue critters in The Smurf Movie. By 2am, only one gal was still awake and the movie finally over. The TV went off and lights went out. All was quiet until morning.
Morning came a wee bit early for my taste, but when you wake at 7:30 every morning, your body clock tends to wake you at 7:30am even on the weekends. The windows were opened and cartoons turned on while the girls woke up and began dressing for the day. We gathered our stuff, located all lost belongings and went down to check out the breakfast. The breakfast menu consisted of cereal, danishes, oatmeal, fruit, sausage, eggs, french toast sticks and the undeniable favorite (I know this because I ended up at the cooking station) was the waffle station and the hot cocoa!
I was pleasantly surprised at how amazingly well the girls all took turns, shared, looked out for one another and acted like properly mannered young ladies throughout the entire activity. We have an amazing group of Girl Scout Girls and I am honored to have the opportunity to take this journey alongside them. We had a fun and exciting end of year activity and we are now looking forward to Camporee in a few weeks and will miss all our wonderful girls until we meet again in the Fall!
